410 is a basic martensitic stainless steel (≈12% Cr class) designed for applications that need higher strength, wear resistance, and moderate corrosion resistance compared with carbon steels. It is commonly supplied annealed or quenched & tempered to reach targeted hardness/strength levels for machined automotive components.
